The New Year Journey with Our Father

I read yesterday in "Daily with the King", a wonderful devotional given to me by my friend Gail... "I will no longer strive ambitiously for ends, for God's purpose is process, not destiny. I never hope to arrive but rather to continue with God in an eternal adventure, the result of which is a continual knowing of Him who is the 'end' God seeks for me."

For me that was a really good 'eye-opener' in this New Year and new work here. I have to admit that I've had thoughts on the 'end result' of my work here will look like and wondering if I will have made a difference. When I read this, I remembered that God is in charge of the end result whether its bringing people to a saving knowledge of him, getting a promotion, or a raise or selling a condo. We are to take the journey with Him. That's what he wants, is us to be in the process with Him. And boy what an adventure a journey with Him could be --- He could take you to Mali, who knows! Another friend of mine, reminded me this week too, that part of being a missionary, is just being there. I think that should be the case for all of us.... are you worrying about your end result for 2010 already? As I type this to remind myself too, let's not worry about the end so much that we forget to walk with God now and trust Him during the walk.

Our sermon at the Coura International English Church (the two-bob church) on Sunday night this week was also on the New Year. The pastor spoke about Hebrews 8 where God is making His new covenant with His people. He said, "God promises a new. He promises to make me what He intended me to be when He formed me in my mother's womb". Despite how much we may mess up this year, God promises to continually be working a new in us because He has a plan for each of us, that will be accomplished in-spite of ourselves.

I pray God will bring 'a new' to each of you in this journey of 2010!
